People seek therapy and support for a multitude of reasons. These include life transitions, life stressors, relationship or social issues, psychiatric conditions, life dissatisfaction and more. Ultimately, I see my role as helping individuals to get closer to living lives that they find meaningful and fulfilling, whatever that may look like for each person.
I trained and worked at the #1 free-standing psychiatric hospital in the United States, Harvard affiliated McLean Hospital, in Belmont, MA for eight years as an inpatient clinical social worker and the Program Director of the McLean PACT team. I provide clinical supervision to masters in social work students and I am an Adjunct Professor at the Portland State Masters School of Social Work. I received training through the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, and in Mentalization-Based Therapy and Open-Dialogue/Dialogic Practice and have experience with solution-Focused, CBT, and DBT approaches amongst many others.
I am also a Usui/Holy Fire III Reiki Master.
I take a genuine, compassionate, person-centered, out of the box-thinking, strengths-based, collaborative treatment approach to the services that I provide. Treatment interventions incorporate evidenced-based practices along with out-of-the box thinking to tailor treatment to the unique needs of each person. I integrate self-empowerment, person-centered, and holistic philosophies to help people develop a life of meaning and purpose that aligns with their values. I believe that everyone has the capacity for growth and I empower people by helping them to recognize and develop their inner wisdom and strengths. A person-centered approach means I see people as more than their diagnosis or a label. Humans are complex and dynamic, therefore I do not subscribe to a one-size fits all approach.
I also integrate holistic and spiritual concepts into treatment for those who are interested in incorporating these aspects into their care. Having a belief system is a significant protective factor in one’s mental well-being. I have done much of my own exploration of spirituality and metaphysical practices and I provide guidance and suggestions to those who are interested in exploring these facets of the life experience.
Reiki is an incredibly healing energetic treatment modality. Receiving Reiki treatment alongside traditional talk-therapy facilities and amplifies the healing process. It may surprise you to know that Reiki can be done at a distance! If you are interested in receiving Reiki treatment on its own or as an adjunct to therapy, please let me know!
